Waddell wades into the record books; Linda leaves ladies in her wake

West London Golf Society witnessed a scorching day of golf at Richings Park Golf Club for the penultimate event of the season. With a record-breaking number of participants and temperatures through the roof, the day turned out to be a memorable one, highlighted by some quite scarcely believable scoring from a high number of players.

The event welcomed a cohort of new members to the WLGS bandwagon - Matthew Cirale, Stephen Doyle, Paul Deane-Williams and Terj Sarai. The occasion was also graced by the presence of home club captain Chris Hills, whose performance, along with Hal Saleh, going round in just 4 over par gross, was nothing short of astonishing.

And it was the men's division where the competition truly sizzled. Hal, Faisal Islam, and Mike Crawshaw seemed to be leading the charge, each amassing an impressive 44 points.

Yet, it was Peter Waddell, fresh off his dominant display at South Bucks, who left the rest of the field open-mouthed in disbelief with a staggering score of 46 points, clinching the top spot and a WLGS mens record for the highest-ever total score. Faisal ultimately claimed the silver medal on count back, and nine valuable Order of Merit points.

In the women's category, Linda Sulman delivered what has become a customary outstanding performance, amassing a magnificent 40 points, and leaving the chasing pack in her wake. This victory further solidified her lead in the Order of Merit standings. Kristina Larsson secured the runner-up spot with a commendable score of 32 points, and she leapfrogs Ingrid Deane-Williams into second.

The nearest to the pin was won by Sunny Sood and nearest in two by Nash Majumder.

Looking ahead, over 40 members are gearing up for an exciting trip to Agadir next week, where they will battle it out in a Ryder Cup-style match-up, promising another thrilling golfing spectacle.

Additionally, the next UK event is set to take place at Winter Hill Golf Club, where champions of the season will be crowned in a special event, making it an eagerly awaited fixture on the golfing calendar.
