West London Golf Society's second event of 2023 took place at Silvermere Golf and Leisure, with 33 golfers competing in what turned out to be a highly entertaining day.
Despite overcast conditions and a few temporary greens and tee boxes, the course was in excellent condition for the time of year, providing the perfect backdrop for some top-quality golf.
In the ladies' competition, Linda Sulman proved too strong for the rest of the field, winning by a comfortable margin of six points from runner-up Zoe Turner, who has now finished in second place in both events this season.
In the men's competition, Simon Turner set the early pace, posting a clubhouse lead of 37 points, which as the afternoon unfolded, appeared to be the winning score.
However, debutant Ian Davies had other ideas, playing some scintillating golf that saw him record a winning score of 38 points, leaving treasurer Turner to settle for the runner-up spot.
Hampton Court champion Leslie Glancy continued her good form, winning the ladies' nearest the pin competition on the second hole, while the men's nearest the pin competition was won by Abdul Kalam, who hit an incredible shot to within three feet of the hole on the iconic 17th.
WLGS legend Turin Mia took home the nearest the pin in two competition on the risk/reward 7th hole.
Overall, it was an excellent day had by all, and the committee would like to thank everyone who made the trip. With the next event at Pyrford Lakes Golf Club taking place in late April, we can look forward to warmer weather and more fantastic golf.
