Grafton grabs gold; Ingrid shatters Sherfield

West London Golf Society's June event took place at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club in Hampshire. The event saw a strong turnout, with nearly 30 golfers participating in the competition.

In the men's category, Jon Grafton emerged victorious, scoring a seriously impressive 40 points. The runner-up position was decided through a count back, with Reyan Majumder securing second place ahead of Steve Banks-Smith, who's newly cleaned clubs are proving to be a game changer.

In the ladies' category, Ingrid Deane-Williams claimed another WLGS victory with a score of 27 points, with Linda Sulman in second.

The winners of the nearest the pin competition was Madanjit Singh and Vishal Dhanak for the nearest the pin in two.

Overall, the June event at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club was a successful and competitive outing for the West London Golf Society and our third with Get Golfing, who once again went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

The Sherfield results mean the race for the inaugural WLGS Order of Merit title is hotting up. The men's lead is still held by Faisal Islam, who, along with fellow pace setter Ian Davies, uncharacteristically didn't score at Sherfield.

This means Bakhtiar Hussain (who shot 37 points of a handicap of 2!) leapfrogs into second place, just two points behind top spot. Jon Grafton's haul of 10 points catapults him into a tie for sixth. Ingrid moves up to second in the ladies, five points behind leader Linda.

Our next event is our showpiece event of the season, the WLGS Championship, which is to be held at one of the best courses yet to host one of our golf days, the prestigious Players Club near to Bristol.

The day will include both breakfast and a meal after the round, as well as complimentary use of the par 3 Watergarden course and practice facilities. There is a hotel on site which you can book a room for if you so wish (please contact the venue directly).

WLGS are subsidising each green fee by £8 per player, so instead of the standard £63 you will pay £55. There are limited places available, so please RSVP as soon as possible to secure your spot.
